Hey, Stephen here.

Your China website can be broken, and your analytics won't tell you.

No one files a ticket. No error shows up.

You lose a buyer in Shanghai, and your dashboard looks fine.

I've done cross-border digital marketing for 20 years. This happens almost every time.

THE PAGE LOADS. THE BUYER LEAVES.

Most Western websites don't crash in China. They stall.

One font waits for a server that never answers. One tag hangs. One video embed spins forever.

Your team tests it from the office. Looks great. Everyone moves on.

Your Shanghai buyer sees a logo, a headline, and a gray box where your demo video should be. Then they close the tab.

Google Fonts, YouTube, and Google Maps often stall

Your Shanghai buyer sees a different site than your team does

If Google Analytics is blocked, the lost visit is never counted

THE LIST IS LONGER THAN YOU THINK

My team built a free scanner. It checks 22 services that fail or slow down in China.

Here's a demo video.

Demo of the dminorstudio China Load Risk Scanner: a URL is entered, the scan runs, and the result shows a critical score of 99/100 with blocked Google Fonts and reCAPTCHA.

Analytics and tags: Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, LinkedIn Insight Tag, Hotjar. Forms: reCAPTCHA, HubSpot. Chat: Intercom. Social: X widgets, Instagram embeds, Disqus. Video: YouTube and Vimeo. Backend: Firebase and Google Sign-In.

Then there are the ones nobody checks: Google Hosted Libraries, jsDelivr, and unpkg. These script CDNs sit quietly on a lot of Western sites.

THE TAGS INSIDE THE TAGS

Google Tag Manager itself loads in Mainland China. The tags inside it often don't.

The scanner reads your public GTM container. It rates each tag using GreatFire.org test results. That includes Meta, TikTok, Pinterest, Reddit, Microsoft Clarity, Microsoft UET, Floodlight, OneTrust, Cookiebot, server-side GTM, and custom HTML tags.

Your developer sees GTM load and signs off. No one opens the container, where a dozen tags can fail on their own.

WHAT TO DO THIS WEEK

Scan your top 5 pages. It's free, takes seconds, and needs no signup.

dminorstudio Free China Load Risk Scanner homepage: "Will Your Website Load in China?" with a URL field and a "Run a free China risk scan" button.

Enter a URL or paste the HTML. You get a 0 to 100 risk score and the 3 issues hurting your China visitors most.

Sample China load risk result: score 22 out of 100, moderate risk. Google Analytics is flagged as blocked in China and Microsoft Clarity as unreliable.

Here's a real result. This site scored 22 out of 100. The biggest issue was Google Analytics inside GTM. China visitors are probably missing from its analytics.

The good news? Most fixes are small. This report lists 5 fixes, about 3 to 6 hours of work in total. Add Baidu Tongji, skip GA4 for China visitors, and verify the site with Baidu.

The full report shows the exact lines of code. Each issue comes with a China-safe alternative, so your developer can start right away.

No page handy? Try the risky sample page or the China-ready sample page.

Is the page difficult to fetch?? Use the bookmarklet. It sends the fully loaded page from your own browser.

dminorstudio China risk scan bookmarklet: drag the button to your bookmarks bar, open your fully loaded page, then click the bookmark to scan it.

The scanner also checks 7 Baidu SEO basics: Chinese language tag, zh-CN hreflang, Baidu site verification, Baidu Tongji, robots.txt for Baiduspider, XML sitemap, and the ICP number in the footer.

Scan a URL, paste HTML, or use the bookmarklet

Read the score and the top 3 issues

Hand the fix list to your developer

One caveat. China's network conditions change often, and they differ by region and carrier. Use the scan to spot likely trouble, then confirm with your China team.

The China Load Risk Scanner is the first marketing tool my agency has built. The beta opens today. You get early access to the full report, a direct line to me about your results, and a say in what we build next.

I only ask one thing. Run a few scans and tell me honestly what's confusing, wrong, or missing.

I'm looking for 20 beta testers. Want in? Just reply to this email.

Which page on your site would you scan first?
